Hands #221-224: Nguyen Spikes River for Huge Double-Up

Level 27 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Hand 221: Danny Nguyen took down the pot preflop with a raise to 110,000.

Hand 222: Jeff Smith raised to 110,000 and Danny Nguyen called to see flop of {7-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}. Nguyen check-called Smith's bet of 135,000. The turn was the {9-Clubs} and both players checked. The river was dealt {k-Hearts} and Nguyen check-called again; this time the bet was 275,000. Smith was ahead with {k-Spades}{6-Hearts} and scooped the pot.

Hand 223: Danny Nguyen raised to 110,000 and was called by Jeff Smith. The flop was dealt {10-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} and both players checked. The {8-Spades} hit the turn and Smith took it down with a bet of 135,000.

Hand 224: Jeff Smith raised to 110,000 and Danny Nguyen called to see a flop of {q-Spades}{2-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}. Nguyen check-raised the flop to 325,000 and Smith called. The turn came {6-Spades} and Nguyen led out for 480,000, leaving him only about that much again behind. Smith pushed all in and Nguyen went in the tank. He eventually made that call and said "I need to get lucky!"

Nguyen: {4-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}
Smith: {q-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}

Smith's top pair was way ahead, and with only one card to come, Nguyen needed a 3, 4, or 6 to stay in this tournament. The dealer flipped over the {3-Clubs} and Nguyen shouted out in victory. "That's how you win!"
