Daniel Idema Wins His Third Bracelet
Event #35: $3,000 H.O.R.S.E. needed four days to reach a winner as Matt Vengrin, Daniel Idema and Kevin Iacofano went the distance. They returned on Friday with Vengrin holding a solid chip lead on his opponents. With bracelets already in limit hold'em and seven-card stud hi-low, Idema looked to capture his third bracelet and did just that. He rode a furious rush to come from behind and defeat Vengrin heads-up to capture No. 3.
Idema began the day as the shortest stack with just 1.08 million, while Vengrin led with 3.175 million and Iacofano had 1.39 million.
However, with betting limits beginning at 80,000/160,000, even Vengrin's massive lead wasn't safe and it was anyone's game. Less than two levels later, Idema had already turned the tide and denied Vengrin his first WSOP gold.
