Straight Flush for the Chop

Level 21 : 10,000/20,000, 0 ante
Chad Power
Chad Power

The flop came {9-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} and it was three-way action at Table 431. The first two players checked to Chad Power on the button, and he bet 66,000. Marco Johnson potted in the small blind for 262,000, the third player mucked and Power said he was all in. Johnson quickly called off his 200,000 or so.

Marco Johnson: {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Chad Power: {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{5-Clubs}

"Oh man, all the club blockers," Power said. "I'm in rough shape against that hand."

He implored the dealer for a low card and got one: the {4-Clubs}, giving him the nut flush. Johnson slid his chair back to exit but an {8-Clubs} river stopped him in his tracks as he made a straight flush, with Power getting a runner-runner low to chop.

The two agreed it was a fair result.

"Both of them did their pro move," someone else said. "He said he was in rough shape and he got up."

Jason Berilgen
Jason Berilgen

Marco Johnson raised to 40,000 from under the gun. Jason Berilgen moved all in for 102,000 from the button. Abdel Hamid thought about it in the big blind before folding.

Marco Johnson: {a-Spades}{8-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}
Jason Berilgen: {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}{10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}

The flop came {4-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{6-Diamonds} and Berilgen called for another nine. The turn, however, was the {a-Clubs} giving Johnson top pair and the nut low. The river was the {6-Clubs} and Berilgen was eliminated.

Ferguson Quarters Berilgen

Level 21 : 10,000/20,000, 0 ante

Jason Berilgen opened under the gun for pot and Chris Ferguson repotted in the small blind.

"All right," Berilgen said with a sigh, putting in his last 145,000. "Not happy about it."

Jason Berilgen: {a-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
Chris Ferguson: {a-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{3-Spades}

The board ran out {8-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{8-Hearts}{2-Spades}, so both played ace-king on the high half but Ferguson took the low with ace-three.

Abecassis Quarters Wang

Level 21 : 10,000/20,000, 0 ante

On a flop of {4-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{3-Spades}, Yong Wang in the small blind and Michel Abecassis in middle position got in a huge raising war until stacks were in with Abecassis' 532,000 at risk. Abecassis had {a-Spades}{2-Hearts}{8-Spades}{3-Clubs} for a pair of three, nut low draw and the nut flush draw. Wang had {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} for the same low draw with aces.

The {j-Hearts} turn was a brick but the {6-Spades} river gave Abecassis three-quarters with a flush and the low.

Fisher Picks Off Lee With "Championship Call"

Level 21 : 10,000/20,000, 0 ante

The final board read {j-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{j-Spades} after both Chris Lee in middle position and Assani Fisher in the cutoff checked the turn. Lee bet 120,000, which looked like pot, on the river. Fisher tanked a little bit and then slid in a call.

"Ace-nine," Lee said with a shake of his head.

Fisher tabled {a-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{4-Clubs}{2-Spades}.

"Wow," Eli Elezra said. "That's a championship call."

Josephy and McKenna Battling

Level 21 : 10,000/20,000, 0 ante

Cliff Josephy completed the blind and Michael McKenna made it 50,000. Josephy potted to 150,000. They exchanged some banter with McKenna saying he had a "pretty good hand" before mucking.

The next hand, they saw an {a-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} flop and McKenna bet 35,000. Josephy called. The turn brought a {4-Hearts} and 60,000 from McKenna. Josephy piled but it was too much as he was allowed to raise to only 320,000. He pulled back 60,000 but McKenna ultimately surrendered again.
