Blanco Catches Mrakes

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 2,400 ante

Michal Mrakes was all-in from the small blind and Paco Blanco was sitting in the tank from the hijack with a substantial pot in the middle already on the {j-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} board. Tablemate Johan Schumacher was kind enough to relate what had transpired before:

Sergio Fernandez had opened from late position and was called by Blanco. Mrakes then three-bet to around 4.2 times the bet and only Blanco called. On the flop, Mrakes continued with a bet of around 30 percent of the pot which Blanco called. On the turn, Mrakes bet just over half of the pot and Blanco called again. And now they got to the point of the river where Mrakes shoved.

After tanking for a while, Blanco put in a stack of chips for the call, putting his tournament life at risk. Mrakes tabled {k-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} for the pair of fours on the board with the king-kicker and Blanco saw he was good with the {k-Hearts}{q-Spades} for two pair, queens and fours to double up for the 100,400 he still had behind at that point.
