Hellmuth, Deeb and Zack All Bidding for Gold in Event #28: $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em
Welcome to Day 2 of Event #28: $1,000 No-Limit Holdem. Action is bound to be fast and furious today in this accelerated 40-minute format tournament, as the remaining field of 346 players will be reduced all the way down until only six are standing at the end of the day.
Giuseppe Pantaleo leads the field heading into Day 2 with a chip stack of 498,000, which will be just a hair shy of 100 big blinds. He will be looking to make another deep run in this years WSOP, having already finished 18th in Event 11: $5,000 No-Limit Holdem.
Some of the other large stacks include Steve McNally (442,500), Yang Zhang (418,500), Wayne Blodwell (373,00) and Jacob Naumann (370,500), who is coming off of a deep run in the Millionaire Maker.
Several of the biggest names in poker are still in contention for the title, too. All-time WSOP bracelet leader, Phil Hellmuth bagged a stack of 160,500, defending WSOP Player of the Year Shaun Deeb has a stack of 252,000 and the current leader for 2019 WSOP Player of the Year Dan Zack is sitting on a large stack of 372,000.
With several short stacks remaining in the tournament after last nights late money bubble burst, eliminations are bound to come quickly when play resumes today at 12 noon local time with blinds returning to 2,500/5,000 with a 5,000 big blind ante. Levels will be 40 minutes each and there will be 15-minute breaks every three levels (two hours of play), with a 60-minute dinner break after level 24.
The PokerNews team will be covering the fast-paced action all day long, so make sure to stay glued to the updates.
