Bad River, Good River

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

The following action took place in back-to-back hands.

In the first hand Jamel Hassani went all in from middle position, and when action folded around to Bryan Hayes, he made the call from his small blind and the big-blind player folded.

Jamel Hassani: {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}
Bryan Hayes: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

The board ran out {5-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{a-Diamonds}, which secured Hassani's double-up and left Hayes with just 25,000 in chips.

On the very next hand a player raised it to 60,000 from early position, and when action folded around to Hayes on the button he put in his last 25,000. Bryan Kim then three-bet from his blind and the other player got out of the way. It was now Hayes' turn to have the big ace against the big pair.

Bryan Hayes: {a-Hearts}{j-Spades}
Bryan Kim: {q-Clubs}{q-Spades}

Kim hit top set on the flop of {5-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{q-Diamonds}, but the {4-Hearts} turn and {2-Spades} river gave Hayes the runner-runner wheel and an extended stay in the tournament.
