Level 22 : 250,000/500,000, 60,000 ante
Vousden doubles Through Timmis
Vousden doubles Through Timmis

First to act, Samuel Vousden raise to 1 million and Craig Timmis opted for a three-bet to 2.5 million in the cutoff, which Vousden called.

Both players checked the {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} flop and Vousden activated his time bank before leading the {q-Spades} turn for 1,557,500, as Timmis came along.

Onto the {8-Spades} river, Vousden made it 1.5 million to go and Timmis then moved all in with the superior stack. Vousden was sent deep into the think tank and he called for the 8,850,956 on top that he had behind.

Timmis flipped over {3-Hearts}{3-Spades} and Vousden earned the double with {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}.

Isomae Chips Up Without Showdown

Level 22 : 250,000/500,000, 60,000 ante

Satoshi Isomae opened to 1 million on the button and was called by Samuel Taylor out of the big blind, who had chipped up in previous hands.

Taylor check-called a bet of 819,000 on the {q-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{9-Hearts} flop and the {3-Diamonds} turn was checked by both players.

Taylor then used a portion of his time bank and made it 3 million to go on the {10-Diamonds} river. Isomae raised to 8,702,400 and that forced a fold from Taylor.

Triple Up for Qi
Triple Up for Qi

Tyler Rueger opened to 800,000 and Xuming Qi jammed for the last 2,160,848 in the hijack. Julien Perouse called from the big blind and Rueger did so, too.

Both remaining active players then checked down the {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} board and all three flipped over pocket pairs.

Qi's {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts} was best as Perouse only had {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts} an Rueger's {8-Spades}{8-Hearts} were no good either.

WSOP Legend: Doyle Brunsons final bracelet, 15 years later

Level 21 : 200,000/400,000, 50,000 ante
Doyle Brunson
Doyle Brunson

At the beginning of the 2005 WSOP, Doyle Brunson remained the co-king of the all-time bracelet count, tied along with Johnny Chan at nine. However, as the series drew toward its close in late June, that was no longer the case Chan had overtaken him by winning No. 10 to stand atop the mountain alone.

Brunson was already phasing out his tournament play, having cashed precisely zero times that summer and just three times in the previous two combined, although one had resulted in a bracelet victory.

When it came time for Event #31: $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em 6-Handed, Brunson dusted off his tournament chops and made a run. Through a field of 301, he made the final table, where he sat second in chips behind fellow multiple-bracelet winner Layne Flack, with Scotty Nguyen also occupying a seat.

Timmis Jams Into Martiradonna

Level 21 : 200,000/400,000, 50,000 ante

Craig Timmis used his big stack and opened to 800,000 in the cutoff, which was called by Stoyan Madanzhiev on the button. Mariano Martiradonna then opted for a three-bet to 3,700,000 only for Timmis to quickly move all in with the biggest stack among the three involved players.

Madanzhiev quickly folded and Martiradonna used his time bank to come to the same conclusion.
