Moncek Calls River vs Oya

Level 18 : 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Michael Moncek
Michael Moncek

The board was completed on the river to read {a-Spades}{3-Spades}{10-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{k-Hearts}. Masashi Oya bet 700,000 from the button. Michael Moncek took a moment before he called in the big blind.

Moncek rolled over the {k-Spades}{q-Spades} which was the winner as Oya mucked his hand.

Worre Triples, Heath Also Survives

Level 18 : 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

Eric Worre shipped all in for his last 230,000 from under the gun. Talal Shakerchi re-shoved all in from the small blind and Ben Heath called off his last 770,000 from the big blind.

Eric Worre: {j-Spades}{8-Hearts}
Ben Heath: {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
Talal Shakerchi: {k-Spades}{6-Spades}

Two players were at risk but the flop of {j-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} gave Worre the lead with a pair of jacks. The {4-Spades} on the turn and the {7-Diamonds} on the river changed nothing as Worre earned a triple-up. Heath took down the side pot, increasing his stack slightly and Shakerchi saw a large portion of his chips scattered around the table.

Aldemir Won't Die; Battle of Micro Stacks Going Down to the Wire

Level 18 : 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

Koray Aldemir was all in from the big blind as his remaining 110,000 was slightly less than the big blind. Talal Shakerchi had yet another chance to knock him out holding the {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} against Aldemir's {10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}.

But the flop came {k-Hearts}{10-Spades}{8-Hearts} to pair up Aldemir. The turn was the {5-Clubs} and the river the {2-Clubs} to give him the small double.

"He won't die, this guy!" said Eric Worre to Aldemir in dismay as he shook his head as he was now down to just two big blinds as well, with the blind set to reach him one position sooner than Aldemir.

Heath Leaves Aldemir on Crumbs

Level 18 : 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

Ben Heath moved all in for 450,000 from under the gun and Koray Aldemir just called on the button. The blinds folded and the two hands were tabled.

Ben Heath: {a-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}
Koray Aldemir: {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}

The flop fell {6-Spades}{5-Spades}{2-Spades} to give Heath a pair of fives but Aldemir also picked up the only flush draw. The {7-Diamonds} on the turn and the {4-Diamonds} on the river were safe for Heath as he doubled up, leaving Aldemir with just one big blind.

Aldemir Doubles Through Shakerchi

Level 18 : 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

Koray Aldemir raised to 305,000 from the cutoff, leaving himself 5,000 behind. Talal Shakerchi raised to make Aldemir stick in the final 5,000 chip which he did after Ben Heath folded the big blind.

Aldemir was ahead with the {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} against the {k-Hearts}{3-Clubs} of Shakerchi.

The flop came down {8-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} the turn was the {4-Diamonds} and the river the {7-Hearts} to secure a double up for Aldemir as hand for hand continues after over a full level of bubble play.

Aldemir Survives with a Chop

Level 17 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

Aleksejs Ponakovs opened to 225,000 from under the gun and was called by Talal Shakerchi on his left. Koray Aldemir moved all in for his last 190,000 from the big blind.

The flop came {j-Spades}{9-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} and Ponakovs led out with a bet of 125,000. Shakerchi raised to 350,000 and Ponakovs quickly folded.

Koray Aldemir: {a-Spades}{j-Clubs}
Talal Shakerchi: {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts}

Both players had the same hand and it was going to result in a chopped pot. The {9-Clubs} and {10-Hearts} were insignificant in the outcome as Aldemir managed to survive thus far.

"What would you prefer to see?" Mikita Badziakouski inquired from the other table. "Ace-jack or nine-eight (on the flop)?"

"Nine-eight," Aldemir responded, hoping for a double-up with his stack size.

Jensen Saved By the River

Level 17 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

Nick Petrangelo raised to 200,000 under the gun. Gregory Jensen jammed all in from the big blind and Petrangelo called. There was a brief pause as the other table completed their hand and the cards were shown.

Gregory Jensen: {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}
Nick Petrangelo: {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}

It was a huge bubble flip that was worth six figures in real money as the other short stacks pulled for jacks to hold.

It got off to a good start as the flop came harmlessly, {5-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} the turn was the {8-Spades} but the river was the {q-Clubs} to dramatically save Jensen, much to the dismay of Eric Worre in particular who was sweating the action and reacted negatively to the queen.

Jensen looked over to his rail and clutched his heart to indicate how close he had come to beign the bubble boy.

Ivey's Pair is Good

Level 17 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

Phil Ivey opened to 225,000 in the hijack and Masashi Oya was the only one to call from the cutoff. The flop came {10-Hearts}{7-Spades}{4-Clubs} and both players checked to the {q-Spades} on the turn.

Ivey checked again and Oya tossed in a bet of 325,000. Ivey called and the {2-Diamonds} landed on the river. Ivey checked once more and Oya quickly checked it back. Ivey tabled {10-Spades}{9-Spades} for a pair of tens which was good enough against the {j-Spades}{8-Spades} of Oya.
