Nacho Barbero Leads Final Six in Event #67: $10,000 Super Turbo Bounty No-Limit Hold'em
Play has come to a close on Day 1 of Event #67: $10,000 Super Turbo Bounty No-Limit Hold'em at the 2022 WSOP at Bally's and Paris Las Vegas. Of a starting field of 419, just six players could find a bag for Day 2 after thirty 20-minute levels and 12 hours of play.
Leading those six is Nacho Barbero, who currently holds a massive chiplead over his opponents with 12,225,000. Closest to catching Barbero is Ilya Nikiforov, who bagged 4,875,000. Rob Hollink rounds out the top three on 3,250,000.
Others to return tomorrow are bracelet winner Andrew Lichtenberger (2,500,000), Women in Poker Hall of Famer Maria Ho (1,875,000) and the short stacked Fabiano Kovalski (425,000).
Notables who entered but failed to make it through to Day 2 include ten-time bracelet winner Phil Ivey (41st-$13,730), Winamax sponsored pro Bruno Lopes (22nd-$18,625) and high stakes regular Mike Watson (10th-$33,924).

Final Table Action
The final table of nine was set late in the day, with the ever-entertaining Paul Chauderson (9th-$42,970) first out the door when he ran ace-queen into Barbero's ace-king. Not long after David Mzareulov (8th-$55,401) got his last few chips in the middle with a dominating hand against Barbero but the Argentine, who seemed borderline unbeatable in the latter stages of play, made a flush to send Mzareulov to the rail.
Rainer Kempe (7th-$72,683) proved to be the final casualty of the night after a cruel twist of fate saw him run queens into Nikiforov's pocket rockets.
Though the play was originally supposed to continue until five players remained, the tournament director announced that the survivors would bag after Level 30 instead, bringing the day's action to an early close.
The six remaining players will return at 2 p.m. PDT on Saturday, July 2, at which point they will play down to a winner. Given how shallow the stacks are and the turbo structure, expect play to be fast and furious.
