Shahi Wins All-In Showdown, Almost Without a Showdown

Level 4 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante

Action picked up on the turn with about 4,500 in the middle. Heads up, two players looked at the {10-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{j-Spades}{j-Diamonds} board.

Arash Shahi's opponent bet 2,200 from out of position. Shahi raised to around 7,500. His opponent quickly bet about 22,000 and Shahi immediately went all in for less.

Shahi's opponent didn't realize his all-in bet was for less, so he mucked his cards. They didn't quite touch the muck, though, so because it was an all-in showdown, they were retrieved and turned over.

"I can't win," said the opponent.

Opponent: {a-Clubs}{3-Spades}

Cards up or down, Shahi was winning the pot as he had his opponent drawing dead. The river {j-Diamonds} only made it official.
