Sammy Farha Bags the Chip Lead On Day 1 of Event #27: $1,500 Big O
Day 1 is complete here in Event #27: $1,500 Big O at the 2024 World Series Of Poker at Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas. There were 1,555 entries with 234 players being paid and 232 of whom bagged up for Day 2. The biggest stack after Day 1 is three-time bracelet winner Sammy Farha.
Farha was able to build a big stack early when he picked up aces and got all the chips in the middle preflop. He then had a bit of a rollercoaster type of day, but later in the night after having a few encounters with Calvin Anderson, Farha got the best of him when his all-in jam on the river got Anderson to snap fold and he scooped a big pot.

Despite losing that big pot to Farha at the end of the night, Anderson (335,000) did find a bag as Day 1 concluded. Some other notable players who will be back for Day 2 include Jake Schwartz (449,000), Michael Mizrachi (301,000), Adam Friedman (215,000), Mike Matusow (111,000), Allen Kessler (57,000), John Racener (31,000), and defending champion Scott Abrams (239,000).
There were many other stars of the game who entered into the tournament that did not make it to Day 2. Some of the names include the likes of Alex Foxen, Shaun Deeb, Josh Arieh, Matt Glantz, Danny Tang, and Eli Elezra.
With 1,555 entries, the prize pool stands at $2,075,925, with 234 players being paid for a min-cash worth $3,002, which all players coming back for Day 2 have locked up already. The top prize is worth $306,884.

When they were on the money bubble with 236 players remaining, it only took one hand of hand for hand play to burst the bubble. There were four eliminations during that time, including Yann Perron eliminating an opponent with quads and Scott Bohlman putting a bad beat on another to burst the bubble. The four players who busted on the bubble will split two payouts worth $1,501 each.
Action is set to resume at 1 p.m. local time, starting at Level 16 at the 3,000/6,000 blind levels, with 58 minutes left in the level. Players are scheduled to finish Level 16 and then play another nine 60-minute levels. There will be a 15-minute break after every two levels and a 60-minute dinner break scheduled after Level 21.
