Welcome back to PokerNews, the official media partner of the 2024 World Series of Poker and home of live updates from all bracelet events.

Today sees the first flight of Event #38: $1,500 Monster Stack No-Limit Hold'em get started at Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas.

This is the first of three Day 1 flights, each of which kicks off at 10 a.m. on its respective date. Each flight will play for 11 blind levels of 60 minutes. There will be a 20-minute break every two levels, with a 75-minute dinner break after Level 8 (around 7 p.m.).

Late registration is available on every Day 1 until the end of Level 10. Players start with 50,000 in chips and may enter each flight once (providing they have not already bagged a Day 1 finish).

Day 2 will then see all three flights combined at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 17. Play will continue for another 10 blind levels. This event is not expected to crown a winner until Day 5. PokerNews traditional coverage of this event starts on Day 2.

Last year's $1,500 Monster Stack No-Limit Hold'em was won by Braxton Dunaway, a Texan oil and gas worker. The event's field of 8,317 entries generated a massive $11,103,195 prize pool.

Dunaway beat Colin Robinson heads-up to win his first bracelet and earn himself a $1,162,681 payday. Poker runs in the family as Dunaway explained to PokerNews after his win. [The family is] at the College World Series. My son is in a tournament during that, which is for teenage boys. He won his first two games today and hes guaranteed like five more games.
