Farha Eliminates Harrington and Builds Massive Stack
Sammy Farha and Dan Harrington had been sitting at the same table for most of the day, which meant that a clash between the two legends of poker was bound to happen at some point. However, it would have been ambitious to predict that a massive pot between them would ultimately see one sending the other to the rail.
According to the players, Dan Harrington three-bet preflop from the small blind, which Farha called from middle position.
The flop came 9?A?10?. Harrington continued for 35,000 and Farha called.
The 8? was dealt out on the turn. Harrington declared all in and Sammy asked for a count. It was settled that it was 72,000. Sammy made a comment about not being able to lay down the hand. “Oh, that sounds like a good hand,” said Harrington, apparently reading Farha as stronger as his delayed decision might suggest.
Farha then made the call.
Dan Harrington: A?K?
Sammy Farha: 9?9?
There were many gasps at the table upon seeing the players’ cards. Apparently, Sammy had taken another pot from Harrington with a set of nines just a bit earlier.
Harrington was drawing dead on the turn; the dealer dealt out the 10?, giving Farha the boat and sending Harrington to the rail.
