John Monnette Leads the Remaining Eight Players
After another 10 levels of play in Event #22: $10,000 No-Limit 2-7 Lowball Draw Championship, only eight players remain from the starting field of 92 entries. On top of the chip counts is two-time bracelet winner John Monnette with 1,051,000.
Day 2 began with 30 players and Monnette flew under the radar for the early portion of the day. When play reached the money at 14 players, Monnette had slightly less than his start-of-day count and was 10th in chips. However, a sizable triple up through Mike Watson and Mike Leah catapulted Monnette to the top of the chip counts. He remained there the rest of the day, and padded his lead by eliminating Shaun Deeb in 13th place and Watson in 11th place, en route to his bagging the chip lead and being in pole position to capture his third World Series of Poker bracelet.
