Pickering Avoids the Bubble on the River

Petteri Kalenius opened for 1,800 on the button and received calls from Dan Smith and Jamie Pickering in the small and big blind respectively. The {4-Hearts}{6-Spades}{8-Spades} flop saw Smith take the initiative and lead out for 3,600, and Pickering responded by moving all in for 8,600. Kalenius got out of the way and Smith snap-called.

Showdown
Smith: {7-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{4-Spades}{8-Diamonds}
Pickering: {6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{9-Spades}{10-Clubs}

Smith had flopped the nuts which meant Pickering was looking to either pair the board to improve his set of sixes to a full house or hit his gut-shot straight draw. The {10-Spades} turn did neither, but the {10-Hearts} river did as it paired the board and gave Pickering the double on the bubble.
