Josef Snejberg Tops Day 1d in Event #15: €550 Colossus No-Limit Hold'em
A full day of poker was completed for Day 1d in Event #15: €550 Colossus No-Limit Hold'em. It turned out to be the smallest of starting flights thus far with 112 total entries and 13 players bagged up chips after 18 levels. Coming out on top with a healthy stack of 547,000 was Josef Snejberg from Czech Republic.
Snejberg is no stranger to the King's Resort in Rozvadov, Czech Republic with the majority of his recorded cashes coming right here. In fact, Snejberg made a deep run in this very same event last year where he wound up finishing in 28th place for over €5,400. He has plenty of momentum and confidence on his side coming off a second-place finish in the partypoker Millions Europe Main Event just a couple of months ago. Snejberg recorded his largest cash in that event with a score of over €718,000.
As for today, Snejberg first got the ball rolling when he nearly doubled his stack with ace-queen against king-queen to bring the field down to the final three tables. At that point, he was seated on Robert Campbell's left and it didn't take long for the two to collide. It was a river shove from Snejberg on a three-spade board that Campbell called after flopping top pair. Snejberg revealed the nut flush and eliminated Campbell in one of the largest pots of the day.
Some other big stacks moving on to Day 2 include Gonyalez Larrasquitu (305,000), Tomas Kvapil (301,000), Diana Volcovschi (280,000), and Ramon Motovsky (216,000). Larrasquitu made a charge in the last level of the night after running out a flush with ace-king against a flopped pair. He went on to eliminate the last two players of the night.
Day 1d Action
The day got started rather slowly with Daniel Negreanu being the only player in his seat five minutes before the cards went in the air. Around 20 players were registered for the opening shuffle but that number steadily grew through the first eight levels. After the second break of the day, the field size came to a halt even with late registration open for 12 levels. In total, 112 entries were recorded which meant there would be 17 places paid.
Unfortunately for those looking to add some points to their WSOP Player of the Year total, Day 1d was not the flight to do so. Negreanu burned through both of his bullets despite having good starts on both of them. Campbell, as mentioned above, was eliminated just shy of the money. And Shaun Deeb, who decided to forfeit his Day 1c stack of 210,000, used up two bullets to no avail either.
It was a fast-paced day that saw players flying out of the tournament left, right, and center. Once the field shrunk to just three tables, players had their sights set on reaching the money which slowed down the pace of play. Coming back from the last break of the night with 20 players still remaining, the money bubble was just on the horizon. It only took one hand on the bubble before Stefan Raschbauer was eliminated. He three-bet shoved his ace-seven into Hafki Tqorgeman's pocket queens and was unable to survive.

Four more players were eliminated before the night came to an end after 18 levels were played out. Those players will each earn a portion of the prizepool and have the opportunity to play another flight should they choose to do so. The remaining 13 players all chose to bag their chips and return on Day 2 in hopes of making a deep run to the final table.
After four starting flights, there are a total of 516 entries with 55 advancing to Day 2. With a guaranteed prizepool of €1,000,000 up for grabs (roughly 2,000 players), it should make for a busy coming weekend. Flight 1e is currently taking place with 165 entries and 91 players remaining. Late registration for that flight is still open and the numbers will be tallied later tonight.
