No Friends Down Here
Rory Mathews made few friends when he was sat upstairs and he's making no new friends now that he's sat downstairs. This has nothing to do with his attitude and he's a very well brought up young man from Edinburgh. It has all to do with pressurizing his opponents off hands.
The first player to fold was Justin Smith who folded to a river after Mathews had barreled both turn and river. The next person to begrudgingly let one go was a short-stack Huck Seed. He raised to 1,000 from the button and then called a three-bet from the Scot in the BB. The flop came and Mathews looked like he wanted to bet but just checked as did Seed. The turn came and Mathews bet 7,000 which covered Seed. Seed folded to hand the pot and a stack now worth 56,000 to Mathews.
