Negreanu Takes Big Hit Then Knocked Out

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Daniel Negreanu lost a large pot when his {a-}{k-} went down in flames to {a-}{q-}. An ace board with a queen on the river, Negreanu check-called Kevin Wang's river bet only to see the bad news, losing majority of his stack.

Not long after, Negreanu raised to 20,000 under the gun, and action folded to Scott Eskenazi in the small blind. He jammed for 168,000 and Negreanu, who had him covered by just 10,000, quickly called.

Scott Eskenazi: {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
Daniel Negreanu: {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}

It was a flip, and while Negreanu paired his queen on the {9-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} flop, Eskenazi also flopped a set. The {k-Hearts} turn left Negreanu drawing dead and he was left with just 10,000, which went in as the ante the very next hand.

Negreanu had {a-Spades}{5-Clubs} for his last hand but failed to get lucky against his opponent's {a-Hearts}{j-Spades} after the board ran out {5-Hearts}{q-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{9-Spades}. Negreanu finished the inaugural Wynn Millions in 114th place for $27,099.
