Auer Picks Off Moorman, Takes the Chip Lead

Level 27 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Chris Moorman bet from the hijack and got raised to 320,000 by Matthias Auer on the button. The board read {3-Spades}{10-Hearts}{2-Clubs} and Moorman called. Both players checked the {7-Clubs}, bringing a {10-Clubs} river. Moorman slid in a massive bet of 1.7 million. Auer counted out calling chips to see what he'd have left then placed a single chip in the middle.

Moorman flipped over {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} for a bluff, and Auer showed {a-Spades}{10-Spades}, much to the delight of his rail.

Ankush Mandavia
Ankush Mandavia

Ankush Mandavia raised to 775,000 on the button. Matthew Wantman set him in for the last 100K in the small blind.

Mandavia: {k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Wantman: {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}

The board ran {8-Spades}{3-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}, no good for Mandavia, sending him out in 10th.

Moorman Five-Bets Afriat

Level 27 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Eric Afriat opened to 125,000 under the gun, Chris Moorman made it 325,000 on the button and Afriat came back with 725,000. Moorman moved all in. It was 1,470,000 more to Afriat for his stack and he tanked about a minute and folded, showing an {a-}.

Qing Liu Eliminated in 11th Place ($32,815)

Level 26 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Qing Liu
Qing Liu

Qing Liu shoved in the cutoff and Mihai Manole called for less in the big blind.

Manole: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Liu: {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}

The {10-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{3-Spades} was safe enough for Manole but things got scary on the {6-Diamonds} turn. The {10-Spades} river harmlessly paired the board and he collected 695,000.

Liu was left under 250,000. He got that in the next hand with {k-Spades}{2-Diamonds} against the {a-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} of Matthew Wantman and failed to improve.

Ray Qartomy Eliminated in 13th Place ($28,095)

Level 26 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Ray Qartomy
Ray Qartomy

Matthew Wantman opened on the button, Ray Qartomy said "God bless America" then announced all in from the big blind. It looked to be about 1.2 million but Wantman called without needing a count.

Wantman: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}
Qartomy: {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}

Qartomy asked for hearts but the {5-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{5-Spades} flop brought only one. The {6-Spades} turn left him needing river help but the {a-Spades} didn't provide enough.

Afriat Unhappy to Get Through

Level 26 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

In a three-way limped pot, Kevin Song bet 90,000 in the small blind on {6-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}. Sung Hyun called, as did Eric Afriat on the button. Song piled in 350,000 on the {k-Diamonds} but everyone stuck around for the {9-Diamonds} river. Action checked to Afriat and he quickly jammed for about 600,000.

Song thought briefly and folded, and Hyun did the same.

"Thought I was doubling up," Afriat said with a shake of the head. "I had it all."
