Few states are more anti-gambling than Nebraska.
Despite every neighboring state sporting casinos, Nebraska has no brick-and-mortar establishments to speak of. The only legal gambling in Nebraska comes in the form of keno, lottery and horse racing.
Nebraska lawmakers haven't shown any appetite for attempting to recover the tax dollars crossing the border, as the only "movement" in terms of legislation has been door-to-door petitioning that hasn't resulted in any actual progress.
Daily fantasy sports continue to operate in the state, but there hasn't been anything concrete in favor or against them, leaving the state as a gray market.
As one of the most gambling-averse states, with no established casino culture, there are very few states further away from legalizing online gambling than Nebraska. Don't expect any movement here until far in the future, if it ever happens at all.
In 2020, lawmakers considered adopting the "Games of Skill Act," which would have legalized online poker, sports betting, and daily fantasy sports. The bill did not pass and was indefinitely postponed in August 2020.
The next year, lawmakers passed a bill to legalize retail sportsbooks and online gaming, though online poker isn't really a part of the equation.
