The World Poker Tour began it's seventh event on Saturday. Foxwoods Casino & Resort, the largest poker room on the East coast pulled in 674 players for this year's World Poker finals. This record breaking field dwarfs the 80 players that took part in the tournament's first year just three years ago. This year's prize fund stands at a cool $6,765,000 with ranks fourth in the history of $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em buy in events, proof, if you needed it, of the growing popularity of the WPT. This years winner will take home over $1,500,000 and a seat at the $25,500 WPT Championship in April 2005. 60 players will take their slice of the money this year.

Some of the most recognizable faces in poker are here at Foxwoods, including Annie Duke, Barry Greenstein, Chris Ferguson, Daniel Negreanu, Doyle Brunson, Erick Lindgren, Erik Seidel, Greg Raymer, Howard Lederer, James Woods, Jennifer Harman, John Juanda, Phil Hellmuth, Phil Ivey, Phil Laak, and Scottie Nguyen plus a whole host of online qualifiers, they will all be aiming for a seat at the final table to be played in the Grand Pequot Ballroom on Wednesday November 17th. The event will be televised and fans will be able to go along and watch the events unfold for free.

The eigth stop of the World Poker Tour is the Five Diamond World Poker Classic, this will be held at The Bellagio in Las Vegas from December 14th. The full WPT tournament schedule is available at the official WPT web site, www.worldpokertour.com.
