GPI Player of the Year: Volpe Leads, Benger and Alekberovas Crack the Top 10
With nearly 80 points more than Mike Watson, Paul Volpe remains in the lead of the 2013 Global Poker Index Player of the Year race. Volpe added his eighth cash of the year last week in Germany, finishing 16th in a �2,000 side event at EPT Berlin ($5,637).
Watson only recorded one cash in April: a 44th-place finish in Event #1 of the World Series of Poker Asia-Pacific.

Scott Seiver ascended to third in the POY race this week after making two final tables at EPT Berlin. Seiver finished eighth in the �10,000 High Roller, earning $54,006, and third in a �2,000 side event, banking $26,872. Seiver scored big in January at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, winning the $100,000 Super High Roller and earning over $2 million.
Bryn Kenney returns to the top 10 this week thanks to a semideep run in the EPT Berlin Main Event. Kenney was eliminated in 30th place, earning $28,838. Like Seiver, Kenney��s largest 2013 score came at the PCA where he finished sixth in the $25,000 High Roller for $229,900.
Griffin Benger makes his first appearance in the top 10 this week after winning the EPT Berlin High Roller. Benger bested Aaron Lim heads up, earning $562,343, which is the largest score of his career. The Canadian also snagged a ninth-place finish in an EPT Berlin side event, taking home $12,060.
Lim, who won both the APPT Seoul Main Event and Event #4 of the WSOP APAC, sits in 15th place in the POY race.
Rounding out the top 10 is Lithuanian Anaras Alekberovas, who finished 32nd in the EPT Berlin Main Event, earning $28,848, and earlier this year won a �3,000 event hosted by the EPT in Dortmund, Germany. Alekberovas nearly made the final table of WPT Barcelona, as well, but busted in 12th place and earned $17,302.
