A "street" in poker typically refers to the betting rounds or stages in the dealing of a poker hand.

What is a Street in Poker?

In poker, a street is a term for the betting round during a hand of stud or flop poker.

In seven-card stud there are five streets, named for the number of cards that have been dealt (so the first betting round occurs "on third street" as the game starts with every player holding two hole cards and one board card).

In Texas hold'em, the first street is pre-flop play and occurs after the players receive their hole cards but before the community cards are dealt. The flop is the second street and happens after the first three community cards are dealt. The turn is the third street and comes after the fourth community card is dealt. The river is the final street and takes place after the last community card is dealt.

Each street represents a different phase in the game, and the betting patterns and player behavior can change significantly from one street to the next.

Playing Different Streets

Example of "Street"

In a seven-card stud game, the first round of action is third street when you are dealt your two hole cards and first board card. Once the betting is complete and each remaining player has received their second board card, the play is said to have moved to fourth street, and so on.
