The board already showed 3?5?A?9? in a heads-up pot when Loni Hui check-called her opponent for 7,000. The river brought the 5? and this time Hui led out for 12,000. Her opponent didn't take long to fold and Hui grabbed the pot.
Bryan Cady started the action with a raise under the gun for 3,600. It folded to the small blind who called, but the big blind three-bet to 16,000. Only Cady stayed interested and called.
The flop revealed 8?A?J? and the big blind continued for 10,000. Cady jammed for a stack around 95,000 and after some thinking, his opponent eventually called:
Bryan Cady: A?J?
Big Blind: A?K?
The big blind had top pair but Cady had hit two pair, and improved his hand into a full house after the board was completed with 2?J? to claim the large pot.
Players are on a 20-minute break, at least, as the floor colors up the stacks. Players will play one more level when they return and then Day 1b will break.
In a three-way raised pot, the flop was 3?8?3? when Alex Rocha checked to Stanley Lee who bet 6,000. Pedro Dib called in the hijack and so did Rocha.
The turn fell the 2? and the trio checked to see a 4? on the river. Rocha and Lee checked again to Dib who sent 21,000 in the middle. Rocha considered it for some time but eventually folded, followed by Lee.
The board 5?10?4?Q? was already dealt in a three-way pot when Alexandra Brierton bet 6,500 from the big blind. She got called by Govert Metaal and the button.
The 6? landed on the river and this time Brierton checked, so did Metaal. The button decided to bet 12,000 and Brierton called, followed a a fold from Metaal.
Brierton tabled Q?9? for a pair of queens and it was good to claim the pot as her opponent mucked his cards.
Pierre Merlin shoved from under the gun to 11,500, and he was called by Domenico Paparo in middle position. On his left, the player in the hijack then went all in for 34,000, and the cutoff called his stack.
The action returned to Paparo, who had the largest stack of all players involved in the pot. And he also decided to go all in. The cutoff player decided to join the action as well.
Pierre Merlin: 8?7?
Hijack: A?A?
Cutoff: 8?8?
Domenico Paparo: K?K?
Merlin was in a desperate situation in this hand. He was hoping for a straight, but he couldn't win the pot after the flop 5?Q?J?.
Then, the turn revealed the K?, giving Paparo a set and putting him in the lead. Finally, the river card was the 6?, resulting in the elimination of the three players with the shortest stacks, just a few minutes before the end of the day.
Rony Siwill raised on the button and got called by the small blind before Arnaud Mattern three-bet in the big blind to 8,500. Only Siwil called.
The flop revealed Q?7?3? and Mattern continued for 8,000. Siwil replied with a raise to 20,000 and it was enough to make Mattern fold and grab the pot.
