Hand #208 - Peter Eastgate

The first 100-million chip man
The first 100-million chip man
Peter Eastgate has the button. He limps in before Ivan Demidov raises 1.95 million on top. Eastgate calls, and off to the flop we go.

It comes down {9-Hearts} {7-Spades} {6-Diamonds}, with Demidov first to act. He reaches for his chips and cuts out a bet of 3.625 million. Eastgate has to think for thirty seconds before calling.

The turn brings a second heart, the {J-Hearts}. Both quickly check to the river, which is the {Q-Spades}. Several straights are possible with this board. Demidov announces 7 million and is called by Eastgate before he can even get the chips in the pot. It's a good call; Demidov shows {A-Spades} {10-Hearts} for ace-high, which can't beat Eastgate's {J-Spades} {8-Spades}, much to the delight of the Danish contingent.

That pot pushes Eastgate over the 100 million chip mark.

Hand #204 - Peter Eastgate

Peter Eastgate has the button. He calls the big blind, once again giving Ivan Demidov the big blind option. Demidov exercises it with a raise to 2.8 million that Eastgate calls.

{A-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} {3-Spades}

Demidov has been playing very cautiously out of position and the does so here by checking. Eastgate checks it right back. On the turn {J-Diamonds}, Demidov again checks. Eastgate makes it 3.25 million to go. Demidov elects to call, taking us to the river, which is the {Q-Clubs}. Demidov is letting Eastgate lead all the action and does so by checking again. Eastgate bets 6.95 million, bringing a snap-call from Demidov.

Showdown

Eastgate: {A-Clubs} {Q-Hearts}
Demidov: muck

Eastgate takes down the pot with two pair, aces and queens and sends us to our first twenty-minute break.

Hand #202 - Chopped Pot Between Ivan Demidov and Peter Eastgate

Chop it up
Chop it up
Peter Eastgate has the button. He calls the big blind, giving Ivan Demidov the option to check or raise. He decides to check to a flop of {5-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} {4-Diamonds}. Eastgate opens the flop action with a bet of 1.25 million after Demidov checks. That bet elicited no fear from Demidov, who raised 2.125 million on top of the initial bet. Eastgate called.

The turn card is the {8-Hearts}. Demidov checks again. Eastgate seizes on this sign of weakness to bet 4.25 million. Demidov appears deep in thought. His gaze is unfocused, down on the felt in front of him. He gets appreciative whistles from the audience when he announces a raise to 14 million straight. That raise puts Eastgate deep in the tank. He's biting his lower lip and staring down Demidov, his gaze pleading with Demidov, "Show me the way." After sixty seconds, he confidently shoves in enough chips to make the call!

There are more than 30 million chips in the pot when the river comes down {3-Diamonds}. Both players check. Demidov shows {6-Clubs} {8-Clubs}, Eastgate shows {6-Hearts} {4-Clubs}. We have a chopped pot.
