Siddiqui Shows After Sanchez Slows

Level 28 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
Mohammad Siddiqui

With nearly a million chips in the pot on a {q-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{6-Clubs} board, Diego Sanchez checked in the big blind and Mohammad Siddiqui bet 475,000 in early position. Sanchez thought about it and called.

The {7-Clubs} completed the board and Sanchez checked. Siddiqui then slid out a bet of 1,000,000 to send Sanchez deep into the tank. Sanchez contemplated for several minutes while alternating looking at the board and his opponent.

"If I fold, you show?" Sanchez asked, but his question was met with silence.

Eventually, a player at the table called the clock, and Sanchez sent his cards into the muck before the tournament director started the clock procedure.

"You don't wanna see it," warned Siddiqui, before he was urged again to show by Sanchez. "You don't wanna see it, I'm telling you," he continued, before flipping over his {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}.

"I'm done bluffing, guys," Siddiqui told the table as he collected the chips. "...until the next one."

Joker Card on the Flop During a $1M Gtd. Poker Tournament?

Level 28 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
Joker card on the flop?
Joker card on the flop?

The 2022 PokerNews Cup at Golden Nugget has been a rousing success, easily surpassing the $1 million guarantee, and there's one hand that will probably be talked about for quite some time.

During Monday's Day 2 session in the $1,100 buy-in no-limit hold'em tournament, an odd flop appeared at one of the tables on the very first hand. The flop came out {2-Hearts}, {9-Hearts}, and Joker. Yes, a Joker was somehow left in the deck, and one player seated at another table captured the hand on video, which was then posted on the PokerNews YouTube channel.

Mandavia Gets a Fold

Level 28 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

Andrew Moreno opened to 200,000 from the cutoff and received a single call from Ankush Mandavia out of the big blind.

Mandavia checked to the preflop raiser on the {10-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{3-Spades} flop and Moreno continued for 125,000. After some thought, Mandavia raised to 300,000 which was enough to get Moreno to release his hand and send the small pot Mandavia's way.

Timo Schneider Eliminated in 17th Place ($40,068)

Level 27 : 50,000/75,000, 75,000 ante
Timo Schneider
Timo Schneider

James Romero opened to 175,000 from early position and Timo Schneider moved all in for less than that amount from the button. Ankush Mandavia called out of the big blind to create three-way action headed to the flop.

Mandavia checked and then folded to a bet from Romero on a flop of {8-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}.

Timo Schneider: {a-Hearts}{2-Spades}
James Romero: {j-Spades}{10-Spades}

Schneider was technically ahead but the equities ran pretty close with Romero having an open ended straight draw to go along with two live cards. The {q-Spades} turn ended affairs right then and there with Schneider making his way to the payout desk prior to the meaningless {8-Spades} river.

Yannick Cardot Eliminated in 18th Place ($34,903)

Level 27 : 50,000/75,000, 75,000 ante
Yannick Cardot
Yannick Cardot

Yannick Cardot had gotten his 1,375,000 chips in from the big blind and was at risk against Albert Nguyen in middle position.

Yannick Cardot: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}
Albert Nguyen: {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}

The {k-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} vaulted Cardot ahead and Nguyen started to move his stack forward, until the {10-Spades} hit the felt on the turn to put Nguyen right back in front. The meaningless {k-Hearts} completed the board as the players exchanged "gg"s, and Cardot made his exit in 18th place for $34,903.
